Adult acne is something that afflicts more adults than ever and their quest for appropriate adult acne solutions is unbounded. In fact, US surveys indicate one woman in five between 25 and 40 suffers from adult acne and men are similarly afflicted, although often less inclined to seek adult acne solutions.

The American Academy of Dermatology reported that roughly half of women in the US will suffer from adult acne at some stage during adulthood. Further, the average age of the adult acne sufferer has crept up from just over 20 years of age to over 26 years.

What Causes Adult Acne?

Generally adult acne is different from the acne that afflicts the teenagers and will mainly be cysts and nodules that appear around the jaw and around the neck. Teenagers will typically experience blackheads and whiteheads on the face and elsewhere.

However with adults, the breakouts can be more severe in terms of consequences because their skin is less able to cope with the breakouts and adult acne solutions therefore become more important. In addition, adults can have a great chance to develop scarring from the acne as well, which is an unfortunate result in some cases. For instance a significant minority of adult acne sufferers develop cystic acne which, apart from its physical effects can also have a severe psychological effect upon the person.

Another frequent form of adult acne is adult, or hormonal, acne, which affects 20–30 per cent of women aged between 20 and 40. There is also an acne condition that arises as a result of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and that affects approximately 10 per cent of women in the United States.

Adult acne will develop for various reasons, often similar to any other acne – such as stress, diet, environmental conditions, hereditary situations and so on.

However, it can also develop because of factors as extreme as social isolation, self esteem issues, stress through employment or depression. All of these are increasingly known to be factors that can lead to acne, as well as other physical manifestations requiring appropriate treatment and both the cause and the type of acne will determine what the best products for adult acne may be for your own situation.

Some other adult acne causes you should know about

Also many adult acne sufferers have been using poor skincare products or cosmetics, which can aggravate their acne condition. You need to ensure you’re using good products that suit not only your skin but also any acne condition you have.

Poor cosmetics (or unsuitable cosmetics) can lead to the trapping of bacteria in your skin pores, which leads to the over-action of the sebaceous glands that then lead to the development of pimples, blackheads and other acne symptoms.

With women, birth control pills can also lead to acne breakouts and are something that those women need to consider.

Determining How Severe your Acne Is

Acne can range from mild to severe – the former being simple whitehead clusters or blackheads to the severe or cystic acne that can develop into painful, solid lumps and cysts beneath the skin.

It is important to know what sort of acne you’re suffering before actually attempting any treatment or using any topicals or other acne treatment products.

You cannot get the best adult acne solutions without knowing exactly how severe your acne is and what sort of acne it is.

Moderate acne is characterized often by papules, which are raised, reddish bumps or by pustules, which are pimples containing pus that are spread over the face or body and are more difficult to remove than the average pimple, such as a whitehead or blackhead.

Severe, or cystic, acne is beyond the area of the occasional breakout, and causes deep, solid, painful lumps or cysts under the skin that cover large areas of the face and body.

Adult Acne Solutions

What can you – and should you do – to treat it? And, as a second and equally important question, what should you do to avoid it or to ensure you don’t get a repeat of acne.

The plethora of skin care products has meant that there really is something for everyone at every age, including adults who want to preserve their skin from the ravages of sun, weather and age. There are so many products on the market now that can ensure your skin remains supple, blemish-free and certainly acne-free.

So what are some of the things you need to be doing?

Suncare – It’s a pity that vanity and looking good are also accompanied by bronzed skin. The reality is that the sun, particularly when at its peak, will cause major damage to your skin so take care to avoid the sun when it’s at its peak and if you do venture out then ensure you wear a good, broad-brimmed hat. The sun will damage your skin more than just sabout anything else.

Using a good sunscreen is also vital. Many of us are subject to blemishes on the skin, which means you should use a good cleanser to keep your skin free of bacteria that can lead to acne. This will usually comprise of a cleanser with salicyclic acid.

Take care with the makeup. Using too much makeup is another problem for people with skin issues, or for those who wish to avoid them. Often a heavy foundation will be used when it is simply unnecessary because a good tinted moisturizer, for instance, will be perfectly sufficient.

Using a good cleansing routine. You need to be careful of rubbing or scraping the skin too harshly particularly for adults where the skin can become inflamed. Use a good exfoliant or a salicyclic cleansers to help cleanse the pores and avoid infection.

Remember that the things that work for kids may not work for adults when dealing with adult acne, so ensure you’re using the best adult acne solution for your skin and your particular acne type.

Finally . .

Finally, if you’re not getting satisfaction from the adult acne solutions you’re using, go see a dermatologist and get a good facial on a regular basis or otherwise. You don’t want to waste time on adult acne solutions that are not right for you. You can beat adult acne, just like the teenagers. Just make sure you’re using the very best adult acne solutions, from the pharmacist, the online store or from your dermatologist.

If you were part of the majority of people that were unlucky to be plagued with teen acne, just think of all the snickers, jests and humiliation you had to go through, then it easier for you to understand why most adult acne sufferers go through a lot of hassles to remove adult acne from their lives. We both know that adult acne is not a terminal disease (you can’t die from having it, I guess you knew that uhhh?). The major thing acne gives us are ugly scars and sometimes they could be really ugly, like mine was at a certain time.

Most of we adults afflicted with acne are usually on the look out for the magical cure that would gives us the fresh and smooth face or skin we had when we were eleven years old. Before we go on a wild goose chase looking for the magical acne medication that would rid us of adult acne lets understand why and how these little annoying monsters grow on our faces.

Why do so many adults still have acne?

It seems from all the amount spent on all those expensive research they still tell us the same thing that we were have all read in encyclopedias, the major cause of adult acne always has something to do with our hormones running wild and also genetics (my dad had a very bad case of acne when he was younger, more severe than mine was). The genetics part simply means that your biological family history has a large chunk of the blame of why you are suffering from adult acne. But aside those there are some other factors that are responsible for worsening your acne condition, some of them include:

*Side effects from some drugs – (such as corticosteroids, androgenic steroids, and lithium)

*Picking at or squeezing at the pimples

*Harsh scrubbing of the skin

*Oil based cosmetic products – (I guess you know this one already)

*Stress, illness or exhaustion

*Heat and moisture

*Diet has a some amount of influence on acne – (and please eating chocolate does not cause acne, where the heck did you hear that from)

*Pregnancy

*Menstruation

*Menopause

How does Adult Acne form on the Skin?

The formation of adult acne as we all know has something to do with sebum, follicle and all those big words that I read in some 21 inches thick encyclopedia. In simple words it is formed when oil (also know as sebum) that is produced underneath the skin surface is blocked from reaching the skin surface where it always flows to, through a hair-containing canal called a “follicle”.

The follicle wall sheds cells often and the canal is used to remove dead cells, which sort of become sticky and block the opening as they attempt to leave the follicle. The blockage results in increased bacteria growth in the follicle, which turns the trapped sebum into a very irritating substance and results in an inflammation that is widely known as acne.

In one sentence on how acne forms it is simply put as “Dead skin cells clog the pores, and bacteria cause inflammation which results in acne on the skin”.

Although so many adults like you have tried many acne medications and cosmetics to combat acne, we tend to wonder why they seem not to get rid of the problem once and for all but still they re-occur. It seems that acne forms when one or more of these conditions occurs:

*A blockage in the follicle

*There is an over production of sebum (oil)

*Increased bacteria growth within the hair follicle.

Researchers have found out that the hormone responsible for acne, which is called “testosterone”. Yes you have heard of it before it is the male hormone (it is found in both males and females but it is produced in high levels in males). Testosterone is responsible for increasing production of sebum (oil), which results in more pimples. Since testosterone is an androgen and is more in males than females, this explains why men tend to have more severe cases of acne than women (at least that explains why I used to have more pimples on my face than my elder sister although she started having pimples on her face before I started having mine).

Adult acne occurs as visible bumps on the surface of the skin usually on the face, although body acne is also common. Adult Acne is seen as pus-filled blisters; small reddish bumps, ugly looking thick red skin on the nose, cheeks and forehead, and small reddish blood vessels all seen on the skin surface. Acne outbreaks usually occur on the face, neck, chest, and shoulders and back. A highbrow term for adult acne is “acne rosacea”.

For so many folks stress seems to be one of the major factors in aggravating their acne condition. When I was in college towards the end of the semester when the amount of work we had to do increases, I tend to have more break outs of pimples maybe as a result of the stress or because I had lesser time for acne skin care. It seems aside the fact that you have to contend with hormones and genetics being the major cause of you acne condition you also have things like stress to worsen it.

Achieving Acne Control with the best Acne Medication

The first step in treating your adult acne condition has to do with proper acne skin care.

There are some important ‘don’ts’ when it comes to treating adult acne.

First of all AVOID the temptation of SQUEEZING your PIMPLES. Most of the time this results in the scars you see on your face. The bigger a pimple is the higher the chances it will leave a scar if you “pop” it.

Remember to wash your skin gently only twice a day; this is very helpful in removing surface dirt and excessive oil, which could worsen your acne condition by clogging the pores. Also please do not use abrasive soaps. They could damage your skin pores and leave your skin too dry.

If you currently use oil-based cosmetics it’s time you switch to water-based, non-comedogenic cosmetics as oil-based creams or lotions irritate oily skin and cause further breakouts and blemishes.

You should also make it a habit to always remove your makeup before going to bed.

Consider applying an oil-free moisturizer to your skin after washing. This helps your skin replenish its own moisture and keeps the oil glands from over producing.

Always remember to shampoo regularly. This prevents oily hair from rubbing off on your skin.

Like we learnt in biology class, a balanced diet is necessary for optimum health. A balanced diet and drinking 10-12 glasses of water a day can help keep your skin healthy. There are some physicians that believe that an increase in iodine consumption aggravates acne and recommend a reduction or elimination of fish and iodized salt.

Relax a little to reduce stress and try planning out your activities so you are not under a lot of pressure from your daily activities.

In case you are looking for a more aggressive adult acne treatment to totally banish those little monsters of your face/body you should try using a combination of treatment like that offered by clear pores system which consists of a facial/body wash, facial/body protection cream and a herbal supplement which fights the acne from the inside and the outside. This triple combination is guaranteed to get rid of acne from your life.

Another very impressive acne treatment available is acnezine, which has natural ingredients that work to take care of the skin. They help control free radicals that cause skin damage, aging and wrinkling, and that can contribute to infection. Acnezine limits inflammation, helping take care of the ugly redness, and working to limit the inflammatory response that can cause scarring. And, Acnezine promotes healing. Acnezine consists of skin anti-Oxidant Capsules and acne Moisturizing Crème which ensures acne is combated from both inside and outside the body.

There are some simple things you can do to create natural blackhead remover conditions . .

Natural blackhead removal techniques is something we spend a lot of time talking about.

Removal blackheads naturally may seem difficult in an age when we have all manner of medications talked about and promoted but, believe me, if you can remove blackheads naturally (and mostly you can!) then you should do it without having to apply various chemicals to your skin.

If you want some fast, simple ‘natural blackhead removal tips’ these are what I would say:

1.) Drink Plenty of Water
We talk a lot about water on this site. But drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps balance and support your cell structure and, as a result, your entire body. It helps with detoxification by flushing out waste product from out blood streams. It helps the organs of the body to function better and also moisturizes our skin. You should most definitely be drinking at least 5 – 8 glasses of water a day. You don’t need to overdo it, which strains the kidneys, but just ‘flush’ the system with ample, daily water intake.

2.) Avoid Dairy products.
There can be a lot of goodness in dairy food, but for blackhead sufferers you need to avoid it as much as possible. This is a key, natural blackhead remover tip. Dairy products carries a lot of growth factor called IGF-1. This growth factors ‘mucks up’ your normal hormones in your body and causes skin cells to die off more rapidly and also causes it to make to much oil.

See Our Top Recommendation Resource For Natural Blackhead Removal Here.

3.) Avoid Simple Carbs
Simple carbs are things like white bread, white rice, flour, etc. They are called simple carbs because they are broken down into sugar almost as soon as they enter the body and they can help stimulate the conditions that lead to blackhead development. What this does is cause your blood sugar levels to rise quickly, causing a big release of insulin.

As with IGF-1, large amounts of insulin cause our skin to die off more rapidly than normal as well as making our skin extremely oily. Replace simple carbs with complex carbs such as whole wheat, natural oatmeal and the like.

These tips won’t remove surve to be natural blackhead remover magic bullets overnight, but they will definately help reduce and, hopefully, remove your blackheads for good.
